There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I'm one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new blue jeans My father was a gamblin' man Down in New Orleans Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and trunk And the only time he's satisfied Is when he's on a drunk Oh mot
About two years after the Animals’ release of Rising Sun, I was in my freshman year at a boarding school. One of my dorm mates had taken up the electric guitar, and the first piece of music he learned was the famous seven-note, A-minor chord arpeggio that begins House of the Rising Sun. For a good part of that year, our adult dorm master was

This is an irresistible and unforgettable ballad, made more so by the voice of Eric Burdon of The Animals. See this fabulous recording from 1964, on what looks like (in my husband's assessment) a set from the original Star Trek: The Animals - House of the Rising Sun (1964) + clip compilation ♫. Watch on.

This can help you get the muscle memory down a little quicker. Once you have that chord pretty well down, try one strum per chord. Em-G-B7-B7. And of course, add in the strum for the same chords. Em-G-B7-B7. Now it’s time to put the first two lines together (that’s half the song already!): Em-G-A-C. Em-G-B7-B7.

The Animals' version of the American folk song is considered one of the 20th century’s British pop classics. While the original version was sung in the character of a woman led into a life of degradation, the Animals' version is told from the view of a young man who follows his father into alcoholism and gambling ruin. Although the date and author of the song are unknown, some musicologists have said that it resembled ballads of the 16th century, and could very easily have derived from one of that time. As a popular folk song, the oldest record of “House of the Rising Sun” in reference to a song was 1905, and it was first recorded in 1933 by an Appalachian group. Other early recordings include Woody Guthrie’s version from 1941 and Bob Dylan in 1961. The version by the Animals, however, is by far the most popular, and Dylan is often annoyed when it is assumed that he covered that song from them. Versions of the song have been recorded by many notable artists including Lead Belly, Joan Baez, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Nina Simone, Adolescents, The Ventures, Duane Eddy and Five Finger Death Punch. The song is often heard in the soundtracks of popular TV shows (The West Wing and Supernatural) and movies (Suicide Squad).
Moja matka jest krawcową Ona szyje te nowe niebieskie jeansy, Aby zatrzymać mojego ojca hazardzistę, pijaka Na południu, w Nowym Orleanie.* To szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy radosny dzień. ** Niczym ptak latający ponad płonącym lasem, Mój ojciec czuje ciepło pod swymi skrzydłami.*** Z powodu długów wyjeżdża do innego miasta Gdzie gra, pije, nadal pije. **** To szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy radosny dzień. ** To szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy, szczęśliwy radosny dzień. Z powodu długów ucieka on z jednego miasta do drugiego.

Tekst piosenki: There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun, And it's been the ruin for many a poor boy, And God, I know I'm one. My mother was a tailor, Sewed my new blue jeans. My father was a gambling' man Down in New Orleans. Now, the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and a trunk, And the only time he'll be satisfied Is when he's all drunk. Oh, Mother, tell your children Not to do what I have done, Spend your lives in sin and misery In the house of the Rising Sun. Well, I've got one foot on the platform, The other foot on the train. I'm going back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain. Well, there is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun, And it's been the ruin for many a poor boy, And God, I know I'm one.
